Labrador Health & Genetic Guarantee
Willow Creeks Companions
At Willow Creeks Companions, we are dedicated to the preservation and improvement of the Labrador Retriever. Our breeding program focuses on temperament, athletic ability, and robust health. We stand behind our puppies with a Comprehensive 5-Year Genetic Guarantee, ensuring your new family member has the best start in life.
Breed-Specific Genetic Coverage
We screen our breeding pairs for conditions most prevalent in Labradors. This guarantee covers the following hereditary defects if they are found to be life-threatening or severely limit the dog's quality of life:
Remedy Options
If a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a covered hereditary condition, Willow Creeks Companions offers the following solutions:
Replacement Puppy
A replacement puppy of the same sex and quality from the next available litter. You may keep your original companion; we do not require the return of a beloved family pet.
Veterinary Credit
A reimbursement of veterinary expenses related to the condition, up to 50% of the original purchase price of the puppy.
Breed-Specific Exclusions
Because Labradors are active, food-motivated dogs, certain conditions are highly dependent on lifestyle and are not covered:
- Obesity-Related Issues: Labradors are prone to weight gain; joint issues resulting from improper weight management are excluded.
- Environmental Injury: Cruciate ligament (ACL/CCL) tears or injuries sustained from excessive jumping or stairs during the growth phase.
- Bloat (GDV): Gastric Torsion is a management-related risk in large breeds and is not considered hereditary.
- Common Parasites: Coccidia, Giardia, or worms, which are common in puppyhood and easily treatable.
The Willow Creeks Standard
While we breed for excellence, please note that Labradors are a diverse breed. We cannot guarantee:
- Exact Coat Color/Shade (e.g., Fox Red vs. Light Yellow)
- Final Adult Weight or Height
- Hunting Drive or Field Performance
- Shedding Volume (Labradors shed year-round)
Claims & Documentation
To honor this guarantee, the puppy must be kept current on all vaccinations and heartworm/flea prevention. In the event of a claim, official OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) or PennHIP results are required for joint-related claims. Willow Creeks Companions reserves the right to a second opinion by a veterinarian of our choice.
